The Zavaray S. Poonawalla Racing Carnival–Bombay Brewout Edition will be held at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse from 4 p.m. on Sunday (March 15).
The day’s programme will also include the Shapoorji Pallonji Juvenile Colts’ Championship and the Forbes Juvenile Fillies’ Championship, which are scheduled for the day.
In January, the stewards of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) decided to curtail the current racing season until the end of March due to administrative reasons. Consequently, the carnival, which was originally slated for April 4 and 5, had to be advanced.
Racegoers in the First Enclosure will witness a Lavani dance performance, and several attractive prizes, sponsored by the Poonawalla Group, will be given away through a lucky draw.
The RWITC has framed a card of 10 races, with total stakes and prizes amounting to ₹3.10 crore. The Poonawalla Stud Farms Auction Sale Stakes (no-whip race) will have the highest stake of ₹1 crore, with the winner’s purse being ₹50 lakh.
The C.N. Wadia Gold Cup (Gr. 2) powered by Zavaray S. Poonawalla, the Maharaja Sir Harisinghji Trophy (Gr. 3) powered by Zavaray S. Poonawalla, and the Zavaray S. Poonawalla Sprinters’ Challenge are among the other highlighted races.
