India is participating in the United States Navy-led multinational anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise ‘Sea Dragon 2026’ being held near Guam this month.

The exercise brings together forces from Australia, Japan and New Zealand, aimed at enhancing coordination and combat readiness in undersea warfare.

According to an official statement from the Australian Ministry of Defence, the Indian Navy is taking part alongside the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), which has deployed a P-8A Poseidon aircraft and around 50 aviators from its recently re-formed No. 12 Squadron to Andersen Air Force Base in Guam.

Over the two-week exercise, participating crews will engage in ASW operations, including detecting and tracking both simulated and live submarine targets. The drills are designed to test speed, accuracy and coordinated mission execution in high-end maritime scenarios, it added.
