As he prepares for the release of his upcoming film Kennedy, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is already looking ahead. In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India about his next steps, the director shared that two new scripts are complete and, subject to scheduling, could move into production in 2026.
The past few years have seen Kashyap balancing multiple creative roles, including an increased presence on screen. He recently wrapped acting commitments across three films, completing one Hindi project and continuing work on a Tamil production, marking a phase where performance has taken priority over directing. Yet, even amid these commitments, writing has remained constant.
Once this stretch of acting concludes, Kashyap says his immediate focus will shift toward personal well-being. After an intense period of work, he intends to pause and recalibrate before returning to full-scale filmmaking. Taking time away to restore physical and mental balance, he notes, will allow space for reflection. He will also take the time to read, reassess and shape his creative direction going forward.
That pause, however, does not signal inactivity. Kashyap confirms that he already has two scripts ready, with only logistical factors — particularly aligning actors’ schedules, standing between development and production. If timelines fall into place, he hopes to take both films on floors and complete their shoots within the same year. Fans eagerly await this release, as it marks a significant return to the dark, gritty storytelling that defined Kashyap’s legendary and influential cinematic career.
