Bangladesh to Host India as Ireland Tour Postponed

Date:

In a major development for the Bangladesh Cricket Board, a recent report came forward to state that Bangladesh’s upcoming tour of Ireland, which was scheduled for September 2026, has been postponed. This is because Bangladesh wants to host India during that period.

Per a Cricbuzz report, Cricket Ireland, which has recently announced the schedule for 2026, told the BCB that it will not be able to reschedule its series in 2026. The development happened after the BCB informed them that travelling would not be possible, which was in September.

Ultimately, the two sides agreed to defer the series since neither of them could achieve it within the given timeframe. Both sides opted to defer the series in the end since neither could make it happen in the allotted time, and the Indian team, Men in Blue, were scheduled to tour Bangladesh in 2025 before the series was postponed and are currently set to arrive on August 28 for three ODIs and three T20Is.

According to BCB, the ODIs are slated for September 1, 3, and 6, while the T20I will take place on September 9, 12, and 13.

What did the BCB official say on the issue?

A BCB official came forward and gave his opinion on the issue as well. This was revealed by a BCB official who revealed how the change was planned after the Indian Team postponed the series that was supposed to be played in September 2025.

“When the India series was moved from last year to this September, we asked them (Cricket Ireland) if they could accommodate us at another time in 2026, but they said they were unable to. So the tour has been postponed,” a BCB official told Cricbuzz.

They also had some other issues, so we worked together to identify a new window for the Ireland tour, hopefully sometime next year (2027),” he added.
