Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister P. Narayana launched key structural works pertaining to the HoD Tower-3, at the Amaravati Government Complex (AGC) on Wednesday.
Mr. Narayana performed special ‘puja’ before initiating the installation of the critical “corner node” component of the tower’s advanced diagrid structure.
Senior officials of the Amaravati Growth & Infrastructure Corporation Ltd., including its Managing Director S.V.R. Srinivas, engineers and project staff were present.
Addressing the media later, Mr. Narayana said the government had designed five iconic Secretariat towers to bring all State-level departments under one roof in Amaravati. “Construction is progressing at a fast pace using modern diagrid technology, despite a four-month delay last year due to heavy rains,” he said.
The Minister added that works pertaining to the iconic buildings, residences for public representatives and officials, and core infrastructure were being expedited simultaneously. He emphasised that the capital city “is being developed under a self-financing model,” asserting that no taxpayer money was being directly spent on Amaravati’s construction.
Referring to the recent fire accident in the capital region, Mr. Narayana said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had reviewed the situation and an inquiry was underway. He warned that strict action would be taken if any deliberate negligence or foul play was established.
