After MS Dhoni, Ben Duckett fined by police for overspeeding

England batter Ben Duckett has yet again hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. It seems that nothing has been going his way since the Australia tour. From the Noosa controversy to skipping IPL 2026 at the last moment, now another surprising incident has put Ben Duckett in a bad light.

Duckett landed himself in serious trouble after being caught overspeeding on the same day he played a match in The Hundred. The timing of the incident has made it even more sensational as it happened only hours before he stepped onto the field for Birmingham Phoenix.

The incident took place on the afternoon of August 24, and later that evening, he was seen in action for Birmingham Phoenix against Manchester Originals at Old Trafford. Duckett admitted his mistake, but the police did not settle it with a simple out-of-court fine.

The police moved forward with a proper legal charge because it was the high-speed case. The cricketer submitted his guilty plea online through the Single Justice Procedure, and the matter went straight to court.

At Cannock Magistrates’ Court, Duckett was handed four penalty points on his driving license. Additionally, the England star was fined £700 and ordered to pay £120 in court charges and other fees and a £280 victim surcharge. He will receive written instructions on how to clear the payment.

Ben Duckett’s 2015 car crash and 2017 night-out incident return to headlines

This is not the first time Duckett has faced legal trouble. Actually, he was involved in a drink-driving incident back in 2015 when he had just started his career. Duckett ended up crashing his car into a ditch in Northamptonshire, and the court banned him from driving for 12 months.

Ben Duckett found himself in the spotlight for the wrong reasons once again in 2017 after a late-night incident, where he reportedly poured a drink on James Anderson during a team outing. This incident had created big controversy, and he faced heavy backlash.

This incident comes at a time when he has already been in the news for withdrawing from the IPL 2026 in the last minute. Duckett has decided to focus on domestic cricket and protect his place in the England side. He will play for Nottinghamshire in the opening rounds of the County Championship.

When MS Dhoni fined for speeding in Ranchi

Earlier, former India captain MS Dhoni had also broken the traffic rule in Ranchi. His car was caught speeding on Kanke Ring Road, where the limit is 60 km/h. The automatic traffic camera recorded Dhoni’s luxury vehicle touching 91 kmph near the Birsa Agricultural University stretch.

Later, Dhoni was fined ₹1,000 for the violation after an e-challan was generated under Section 183 of the Motor Vehicles Act. However, the entire process was automatic, with the fine sent directly to the legendary cricketer through the digital system.
