The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match No.5, is underway with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) taking on the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. DC captain Axar Patel won the toss and elected to field first. For DC David Miller, Nitish Rana, Lungi Ngidi, and Pathum Nissanka made their debut.
During the game, Aiden Markram was castled by Axar Patel in the 5.5 overs, as he tried to play a cut shot with a ball that did not have much room to play the shot and ended up getting bowled. He bowled this one quicker, pulled back the length, and angled it in from the off-stump line.
Aiden Markram falls cheaply
Aiden Markram took another big swing after opening up his front foot, but the ball crashed through the stumps and lit up the bails. This was the second wicket for DC as they have controlled the powerplay with 48/2. Before getting out, Markram smashed Axar for a six, and this was a revenge for the spinner.

Markram, who opened the batting for LSG last season, has been demoted to bat at No.3 as Rishabh Pant opened the innings alongside Mitchell Marsh. Aiden Makram has been excellent during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 for South Africa.
The Proteas captain was excellent last season, but he was opening the innings. Makram scored 445 runs in 13 games for the LSG. However, he does not have the best of records outside the opening position in the IPL. Markram has struggled to score runs.
Rishabh Pant unlucky after opening the innings
Rishabh Pant, who opened the innings for the LSG, looked in good touch; however, he was unlucky to be run out at the non-striker end at the score of 7 runs. Pant has been under a lot of criticism for his T20 form as he has not had the best of times in the IPL last season.
Pant has been more under the radar due to his price tag as he is the highest ever paid player at the auction
