Punjab Kings (PBKS) mocked Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) brutally as the game at the Eden Gardens washed out because of rain and thunderstorms. As per the rules of the Indian Premier League, both participating teams shared one point each as the game was abandoned.
After the official confirmation about the cancellation of the game, Punjab Kings shared a hilarious post from their official social media accounts across social media platforms.
Punjab Kings directly mock the Kolkata Knight Riders
With a photo of a covered Eden Gardens, the franchise said that it was not raining, it was painful as they have to please with one point now. “1 point paani mein gaya (1 point washed out)”, in a single line on a social media post, reads.

It was a direct mock at the home team, Kolkata Knight Riders, who are not in significant momentum in the ongoing IPL 2026 so far, losing two back-to-back matches.
Ahead of facing PBKS tonight, the multi-time IPL winners’ points tally was zero as they are yet to register a win. Now, because of the washed-out match, KKR opened their account with 1 point, and Punjab also got a point as per the rules.
Undefeated Punjab Kings at the top of the IPL 2026 points table
From the social media post, it is clear that they were confident about thrashing the Kolkata Knight Riders to claim all the points from their away match under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.
Iyer, the former captain of KKR who led the team to success in the past, knows the ground very well. With one added point from today’s fixture, Punjab Kings are currently top of the points table with 5 points in 3 games. With two wins, they are currently undefeated in the contest.
Multiple surprising decisions by KKR in the PBKS match
Rain forced the match to stop after the fourth ball of the fourth over of the first innings. Kolkata Knight Riders went to bat first after winning the toss. Ajinkya Rahane’s decision to bat first shocked many cricket pundits, as traditionally, teams prefer to field first when the circumstances are not favorable for the batters. Because of the heavy weather, the situation was difficult for the batters to perform.
KKR lost their first wicket in the form of one of their openers, Finn Allen. Soon after New Zealand’s departure, Cameron Green also returned to the hut. Before the umpire signaled to stop the match, the home side was down by 2 wickets for only 25 runs.
Knight Riders formed their playing combination without their ace spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy. At the toss, the KKR captain informed that Varun missed the match because of an injury, and Narine was not in the playing XI as he was not fit for the match. KKR went to lock horns with an energetic Punjab Kings with an inexperienced bowling line-up.
