Will Jacks’ holiday sparks debate as Mumbai Indians struggle in IPL 2026

Mumbai Indians (MI) have growing concerns as Will Jacks continues his extended break from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Mumbai Indians granted Jacks an extended break following the T20 World Cup. The five-time IPL champions expected a quick return, but his continued absence has left them searching for answers. The team are in the bottom half of the Indian Premier League points table after losing back-to-back matches.

Jacks got engaged to Ana Brumwell earlier this year during the Ashes tour in Australia. She also posted pictures from an Alex Warren concert in Paris. Mumbai Indians fans were unhappy seeing the holiday posts while the team struggles in the IPL.

Jacks was a standout performer for England in the T20 World Cup in India. He scored 226 runs and took nine wickets in eight matches, winning four Player of the Match awards. He helped England reach the semi-finals before they lost to the Indian team.

We Are Hoping He Will Join Pretty Soon – Mahela Jayawardene on Will Jacks Return

Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene spoke about Will Jacks after the team’s loss to Rajasthan Royals. He admitted there is no clear timeline for Jacks’ return. “Will Jacks still hasn’t joined the squad. We are hoping he will join pretty soon,” Jayawardene said.

Mumbai Indians are struggling to find the right balance without Jacks. They played Allah Ghazanfar in the first match but dropped him for Mitchell Santner against Delhi Capitals. The team then used five regular bowlers against Rajasthan Royals but still lost.

Mumbai Indians need a reliable spinner to control the middle overs. Jacks can provide breakthroughs and also bat in the top order. The franchise retained him for over five crore rupees, but his absence is affecting the team balance.

Rajasthan Royals Crush Mumbai Indians in Rain-Hit Clash

Rajasthan Royals (RR) thrashed Mumbai Indians in a rain-curtailed 11-over match. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 80 runs in just 30 balls. Sooryavanshi took on Jasprit Bumrah for multiple sixes. Rajasthan posted 150/3 against bowlers like Trent Boult, Bumrah, and Shardul Thakur.

In reply, Mumbai Indians suffered a batting collapse. Hardik Pandya and others failed, leaving the team at 46/5 in five overs. Sherfane Rutherford and Naman Dhir added 47 runs to reduce the damage.

Mumbai Indians lost the match by 27 runs, which hurt their net run rate. They slipped to seventh on the IPL points table and will next face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 12.
