Shaneil Deo and Adivi Sesh have written a long-drawn story which has very few good points but is otherwise boring. The duo’s screenplay, with additional screenplay by Karthikeya, is so lengthy and so long-winding that it tests the audience’s patience.On the whole, Dacoit Ek Prem Katha is a below-average fare. It is too lengthy and boring and will, therefore, flop at the ticket windows.

Dacoit: A Love Story had everything going for it… a powerful premise, a strong cast, and a promising start. But weak writing, a confusing screenplay, and inconsistent direction pull it down.Watch it for Mrunal Thakur as she truly shines and carries the film on her shoulders. Adivi Sesh’s intensity and Anurag Kashyap’s presence also add value. But beyond that, this ends up being a film that had a lot to say, but didn’t quite know how to say it. In all, Dacoit has a strong start and brilliant performances, but ultimately it is a messy, frustrating watch.

On the whole, DACOIT manages to hold interest due to its massy moments, action and performances. But the narrative is bogged down by haphazard execution, loopholes and a flawed twist. At the box office, the Telugu version is expected to take a healthy opening, whereas the Hindi version will open on an underwhelming note. However, if it finds acceptance among the masses in the Hindi-speaking belt, it can benefit from the one-week clear window.

The frustrating part is that Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha isn’t completely terrible. There is a decent story buried somewhere in there but the execution is so lazy and confused that it never comes together.It keeps promising something exciting, emotional, thrilling, only to rob us off of that experience of masala entertainer it teases.By the end, you are not angry. You are just tired. And maybe a little amused, but that’s not nearly enough to save it.

Despite the implausibility of certain scenes where anything literally goes, Dacoit keeps you hooked for the most part. It could be best described as a cocktail with multiple tastes. But also a drink that not only tries to intoxicate the head but also hail the heart. It’s a Prem katha with multiple layers that can be best enjoyed when not talked about much. Give it a try!
