Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Left Unhappy? Coach Reveals reason

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi demonstrates a notable presence on the field, with the 15-year-old currently positioned among the leading run-scorers in the IPL 2026 season. His performance includes two instances of achieving a half-century in 15 deliveries. Prior to the Rajasthan Royals’ recent fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sooryavanshi’s scores in RR’s initial four IPL 2026 matches were recorded as 52, 31, 39, and 78. In the subsequent match against SRH, Sooryavanshi was deployed as an Impact Player. When questioned about this tactical decision, Rajasthan Royals assistant coach Trevor Penny indicated that while the young player expresses a desire to participate in fielding, team composition necessitated an alternative approach.

Penny explained on Star Sports during the SRH vs RR game that Sooryavanshi expressed disappointment regarding his absence from fielding in the previous match, emphasizing his enthusiasm for fielding and clarifying that his non-selection was not due to any deficiency in his fielding skills. Penny further elaborated that Donovan has successfully completed his fitness evaluation, having recovered from a fractured collarbone sustained during the SA20. He was described as a proficient fielder, and his return to the field was considered beneficial for the team. Consequently, Vaibhav was not selected for fielding duties.

Regarding the match outcome, Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, two pacers representing Vidarbha and Bihar respectively, concluded RR’s series of victories. Rajasthan Royals were dismissed for 159 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad, who had posted a total of 216/6, largely attributed to an impressive 91 runs from 44 balls by captain Ishan Kishan. This result terminated RR’s four-match winning sequence. Sunrisers Hyderabad recorded their second victory, alongside three losses. While RR experienced their inaugural loss of the season, they maintained their position at the top of the league standings. SRH advanced to fourth place, with a record of two wins and three losses.

Ishan Kishan’s rapid 91-run innings was central to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s total of 216 for six against Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League fixture on Monday. Kishan played a pivotal role in elevating the SRH score after the early dismissals of Abhishek Sharma (0) and Travis Head (18).

Kishan’s innings comprised eight fours and six sixes, culminating in 91 runs from only 44 deliveries.

SRH’s total was additionally supported by Heinrich Klaasen’s 40 runs from 26 balls, a swift 28 from Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Salil Arora’s unbeaten 24 runs off 13 balls. Jofra Archer contributed to RR’s bowling effort by securing 2 wickets for 37 runs across his four overs.
