Kartik Tyagi bamboozles Sanju Samson in CSK vs KKR clash

Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Kartik Tyagi has used his pace to leave Sanju Samson bamboozled as he broke through his defence and rattled the stumps. This led to the dismissal of the CSK opener, who missed out on a half-century to follow the century from his previous game.

The Chennai Super Kings bought Sanju Samson with the hope that he would add immense power to their top order while also being an alternative wicketkeeper in the side. But Samson instead has turned out to be their main gloveman in the absence of MS Dhoni, and has now looked to dominate with the bat.

Having played a very fine knock in the last game against the Delhi Capitals, Samson was the player of the match with a massive unbeaten century that took the team total to a massive score, and helped CSK gather their first points in IPL 2026.

Kartik Tyagi shocks Sanju Samson with pace on delivery

After some early carnage from Ayush Mhatre, Sanju Samson was single-handedly aiming to take the Chennai innings further deep into the game. However, he was not well backed by Dewald Brevis, playing his first match with the bat this season.

As Samson had to take on the attack single-handedly, he smacked Kartik Tyagi, getting an early sight of his slower ball outside the off-stump. Samson looked to do the same on consecutive deliveries, but this time Tyagi had his best weapon unleashed.

The young paceman can bowl with sheer pace, and he beamed one at the stumps at a fiery 148 km/h. Samson was bamboozled by the immense pace as Tyagi went for the “you miss, I hit” policy, dismantling the batter’s leg stump.

Sanju Samson enters the Orange Cap leaderboard

Chennai opening batter Sanju Samson has slowly backed himself to revive his amazing form from the ICC T20 World Cup last month. Sanju’s century gave him the platform and also the confidence to express himself and his shotplay at the top of the order.

Following that massive hundred, Samson backed himself and scored a well-made 48 runs while striking at 150. Just when he was starting to accelerate in the innings, Tyagi handed KKR the massive breakthrough.

However, despite his three single-digit scores, an unbeaten century and now a missed half-century, Samson has amassed 185 runs across five games in this season of the IPL. He is now 5th on the Orange Cap board, replacing RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

CSK eyeing another 200+ total at Chepauk

The Chennai Super Kings were once called an invincible side at their home venue in the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The spin-friendly conditions and the immense cheer from the CSK fans at the Chepauk were considered the real reasons for their success.

In the two former matches they played at this venue in the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the Chennai Super Kings scored 200+ runs on both occasions. They had also given away 200+ runs, as the Punjab Kings chased the double-century target against them.

After a promising start to the match with a massive powerplay score, the CSK batters would be aiming to take the score past 200 on this occasion as well. KKR have not shown the calibre to chase such big totals in this edition of the IPL.
