Venkatesh Iyer reveals the secret of Virat Kohli’s fitness

The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is nearing its halfway mark. Reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), have been in good form in the tournament. They are in the 2nd position of the table, winning four out of six games and losing two. Virat Kohli, the former captain, has been in brilliant form this season.

Virat Kohli has been in good form, as he is listed in the Orange Cap race, where he has been placed fourth in the list with 247 runs and an average nearing 50. He has scored two fifties in the tournament so far and has taken charge from the very first ball of the innings, and also played an anchor when required.

He is an extremely down to earth person- Venkatesh Iyer on Virat Kohli’s nature

Ahead of RCB’s next clash, Virat Kohli has been preparing hard, and he is recovering from the ankle injury he sustained during the Mumbai Indians (MI) game and might have also recovered from the fever he was suffering. Before the RCB faces the Gujarat Titans (GT), Venkatesh Iyer has shared his insights on Virat Kohli during the Round Table Conference.

Venkatesh Iyer said, “First of all, he is an extremely down to earth person, he has got the aura around him, which never ceases to amaze people. And you can count yourself lucky to be in the same dressing room as him.”

“At the same time, it is also an opportunity to take as many things from him because the situations that you have faced in life. That person has seen it 50 times more than you. He knows how to deal with situations, not just with the game, but with say fame, money, family.

But an inspiration- Venkatesh Iyer on Virat Kohli

“To see a complete person like that is nothing but an inspiration. You see how he celebrates a wicket, you never see him jogging on the field, he sprints. That is all the more reason to increase your fitness. To increase your intensity. And be on the top of your game.”

Venkatesh Iyer has just played one game for RCB this season, scoring an impactful 29 runs with a strike rate of 193.33. The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder was picked by the Bengaluru side for INR 7 crore to add versatility and middle-order experience to their squad. However, the middle order of the side has not yet failed to perform.

RCB looking for a comeback

This has been one of the reasons Venkatesh Iyer has had limited chances in the tournament so far. He will be looking to get into some more playing time for the defending champions in the upcoming matches.

RCB lost their last game against the Delhi Capitals (DC). They will be looking for a comeback on their final home game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. After this, they will be playing their remaining home games at Raipur against the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders. RCB would want to give their local fans a good send-off for this season.
