Rajasthan Royals leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi set social media ablaze after his notebook celebration in IPL 2026.
During RR’s match against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow, Bishnoi dismissed LSG’s Himmat Singh while his team defended a low score on a tricky pitch.
In the 15th over of LSG’s innings, Bishnoi put one through Himmat Singh’s defence and rattled the stumps to leave LSG at a precarious 94/5. From there, the chase of 160 was never on track.
Pacers shine on both sides
In the first innings, Lucknow’s pacers – Mohammad Shami, Mohsin Khan, and Prince Yadav – used the seam movement on offer to trouble RR’s batters.
Rajasthan’s explosive openers were contained, and the middle order was tied down. Shami, Khan, and Yadav took two wickets each to restrict RR to 159. A total that wouldn’t have been possible if Ravindra Jadeja hadn’t made 20 runs in the last over.
LSG’s start was horrendous as Ayush Badoni fell to a freak run-out in the first over. Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger then took a wicket each in the powerplay.
Ravi Bishnoi and Jadeja run a tight ship in the middle
Jadeja and Bishnoi then ensured that LSG never recovered from their slow start. All attempts to stave off the collapse from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran were in vain.
Pooran was unusually sedate following his bad form, while Mitchell Marsh got to his fifty, he couldn’t stay to the end. Jadeja dismissed Pooran, and Ravi Bishnoi pulled out the notebook after breaching Himmat Singh’s defenses.

Digvesh Rathi and the ‘notebook’
While he wasn’t the first to do it, LSG’s Digvesh Rathi achieved infamy for pioneering the ‘notebook’ celebration in last year’s IPL.
After dismissing a batter, Rathi would pretend to tick off something on an imaginary notebook on his palm. Even doing it to the batter’s face once.
Repeatedly celebrating in this way meant that Rathi attracted multiple fines and eventually a one-match ban in IPL 2025. Rathi eventually mellowed down, but the scenes of his notebook have lingered in the batters’ minds.
Ravi Bishnoi took the opportunity that presented itself when he performed this celebration against Rathi’s team itself.

Burger, Archer and Brijesh Sharma close it out for RR
After Nandre Burger dismissed LSG’s last recognised batsman in Mitchell Marsh, all hope was ultimately lost.
Jofra Archer and Brijesh Sharma then cleaned up the tail to deliver a handsome 40-run win. The win propelled Rajasthan Royals to second place on the points table with 10 points, only one behind table toppers Punjab Kings, and snapped a two-match losing streak.
LSG, on the other hand, are languishing in ninth place with just 2 wins in 7 matches. The loss to RR in Lucknow was their fourth consecutive loss in the tournament.
