Tilak Varma engaged in a heated argument with Jamie Overton during MI vs CSK clash

The temperature in Mumbai is currently around 29 degree Celsius, humidity 64%. The situation at the Wankhede Stadium got more heated, as the Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Tilak Varma and the overseas bowler of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Jamie Overton, were engaged in a fiery exchange in the middle of the park.

Suryakumar Yadav also involved himself in the matter. To ease the situation and resume the match, the on-field umpire had to step in. The incident happened at the end of the 10th over of the second innings when the home team, the Mumbai Indians, was chasing a target of 208 runs.

Tilak Varma and Jamie Overton engaged in a heated moment at the Wankhede Stadium

From the 10th over of the match, MI batters claimed 13 runs in total, including two 4s. As soon as the final ball of the over was delivered, Varma and Overton engaged in a heated situation.

Mumbai Indians’ batting line was under pressure from the beginning of the run chase as they had lost multiple key batters at the beginning of the second innings. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav tried for a while to stabilize things, but they too did not last long on the track.

Watch the heated moment between Tilak Varma and Jamie Overton here:

The batter of the Mumbai Indians failed brutally on their own home ground against their arch-rival, the Chennai Super Kings

The wicket of the Wankhede Stadium is a bit tricky to bat on. In the first innings too, the batting first team, Chennai Super Kings, struggled a lot during their batting. It was Sanju Samson who made the difference between the two teams.

MI needed someone who could do what Sanju Samson did for the Super Kings. Despite having multiple experienced and proven batters in the format, the home team failed to do so.

The fighting knocks of Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav were the only defense of MI against the CSK bowling attack. While Tilak was dismissed for 36 runs from 30 balls, Suryakumar was gone after scoring 37 runs from 29 balls. Both of the Tilak Varma and SKY smashed five 4s each in their respective innings.

MI skipper Hardik Pandya was dismissed cheaply when the team needed him the most

The question will remain on the Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya. When the team needed him the most, especially after the efforts made by Varma and Yadav, Pandya gifted a bagful of disappointment to his franchise.

The captain of the Mumbai Indians got only 1 run from 2 balls. Chances for Mumbai’s play-off scenario in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League turned worsen more after tonight’s match.

In reply to CSK’s 207 runs, the Mumbai Indians managed to score only 104 runs in their innings, that too in exchange for all of their 10 batters. The second innings wrapped up in 19 overs. CSK won the match by a massive 103-run margin.
