Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their steady climb in the Indian Premier League 2026, securing a composed four-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, May 3. The result gave GT a crucial boost in the points table, while PBKS missed an opportunity to consolidate their position at the top.
Opting to bat first, PBKS endured a shaky start as they lost early wickets in the powerplay. Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly fell cheaply, putting pressure on the middle order. Prabhsimran Singh got a brief start but couldn’t convert it into a substantial score.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer attempted to stabilise the innings, but it was Suryansh Shedge who provided the much-needed momentum with a blistering 57 off 29 balls. Marcus Stoinis chipped in with a valuable 40, while Marco Jansen added a quick 20 towards the end to push PBKS to 163/9 in their 20 overs.
For GT, Jason Holder was the standout performer, claiming four wickets and breaking the backbone of PBKS’ middle order. Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj picked up two wickets each, ensuring the scoring was kept in check.
Chasing 164, GT got off to a shaky start with skipper Shubman Gill falling early. However, Sai Sudharsan steadied the innings with a composed 57 off 41 deliveries, anchoring the chase through the middle overs.
Jos Buttler added a handy 26, while Nishant Sindhu chipped in with a useful contribution to keep GT on track. The chase was eventually guided home by a fluent unbeaten 40 from Washington Sundar, who played with intent under pressure.
GT held their nerve as Arshad Khan provided the finishing touches, helping the hosts reach 167/6 in 19.5 overs and seal a comfortable four-wicket victory.
