After the controversy involving the Karnataka MLAs’ demanding VIP tickets for the matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Bengaluru stadium might lose the hosting rights to the IPL 2026 final.
There has been immense trouble within the KSCA, with fans infuriated over the unjust demands from the MLAs and MPs in the state of Karnataka. Some legislators have also demanded four to five tickets each, as they have mentioned that they are VIPs and cannot stand in those long queues.
However, these kinds of operations often lead to inflation in price rates of tickets, and the fans have criticized this kind of policies, marking this as the misuse of power and labeling it as ‘VIP Culture.’
Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy to lose IPL 2026 hosting rights amid MLA ticket fiasco
For matches at their home ground in the Chinnaswamy, the KSCA did not provide adequate passes to the legislators of the state, and the government was forced to intervene to secure free tickets or passes from the KSCA.
There have been discussions between the KSCA and the government; however, no such conclusion has been reached that has satisfied the legislators. If this fiasco is not solved by the time the IPL 2026 final tickets go live, then Bengaluru might lose the hosting rights for the finals of IPL 2026, as per a report from an ANI journalist.

What could be the possible solution to the MLA tickets fiasco in Bengaluru?
The recent fiasco could not be settled if the MLAs’ and MPs’ demands are not met by the KSCA or the Karnataka government. To resolve this issue, the Karnataka deputy CM had contacted the KSCA board, and several calls were made.
D.K. Shivakumar announced that the MLA/MPs would be handed three free tickets for the IPL games at the Chinnaswamy and two for international matches. This decision was made following the discussions with KSCA officials.
The Chinnaswamy has, anyway, not yet been finalized to host the IPL 2026 finals. However, according to several reliable sources, they were considered the frontrunning contenders to host the IPL 2026 final.
Which venues can function as Chinnaswamy’s alternative for the IPL 2026 final?
As of now nothing is final on the hosting of the playoff games, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, despite being the defending champions, are yet to book a spot into the playoffs. However, it seems that the team might end up among the top four teams in IPL 2026.
If the Chinnaswamy Stadium is not considered to host the final, then other venues that might be picked up as per their merit include the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the biggest venue for cricket in India.
The Eden Gardens in Kolkata and Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium could also act as possible venues to host finals, as these grounds have hosted such events in the past. However, the decision remains in the hands of the BCCI.
