Can CSK still reach playoffs after win against DC?

On May 5, Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium witnessed a well-balanced contest between the bat and the ball of the home team, Delhi Capitals, and the Chennai Super Kings for the 49th match of the IPL 2026 season.

The way CSK has started to change things in their favour makes the IPL 2026 group stage more interesting. Despite multiple injuries, the young brigade of the team showed some glimpses of their potential in the previous games. Ahead of tonight’s match, in the last five matches, CSK has confirmed three wins.

Chennai Super Kings claimed a crucial win vs DC

In total, they had 8 points from 9 matches. Delhi Capitals also had the same amount of points in as many matches. But CSK had the net run rate of +0.005, while DC’s net run rate was -0.895.

Net run rate is going to be a very vital parameter for the qualifications in the play-offs, as there are multiple teams that are strongly in the race for a spot in the round of four. After the DC vs CSK match, Chennai Super Kings have 10 points, and the Delhi Capitals remain with 8 points.

Sanju Samson secured 2 more points for Chennai

Again, it was Sanju Samson who helped CSK to get out of danger. At one stage of the game, Chennai was down by two wickets in the initial stage of the second innings. The first innings of the match was mostly dominated by the bowlers of the Chennai Super Kings. Apart from Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs, none of the DC batters were able to show significant resilience in the middle.
