Things have not been going well for the Delhi Capitals (DC) both on and off the field. The Delhi Capitals have already found themselves in a tough spot after losing six of their ten matches so far in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026).
The Capitals are now almost out of the IPL 2026 playoff race, and the pressure is not just on players but also on the people running the franchise. They have been part of the Indian Premier League from the start, but they are still waiting for their first title.
Delhi Capitals’ struggle continues with ownership terms set to change after IPL 2026
After another poor season, there could be a change in dual ownership of the DC from the next season. This season hasn’t gone their way, forcing the owners to change their strategy.
Presently, DC is owned by two groups—GMR and Jindal—, and both take turns running the team every two years. Now, there is a new idea being discussed because the team has not been able to follow one clear direction for a long time with this two-year cycle.
Delhi Capitals rethink strategy as two-year cycle fails to give result
As reported by Cricblogger, the GMR wants to make this cycle longer, from two years to three years, so that one group gets more time to plan and build the team properly to bring stability.
As per the current system, the Jindal Group is expected to take control of the IPL in 2027. But before that happens, both owners will sit and discuss this new plan after the conclusion of this season. Interestingly, results have not been great for DC when GMR has handled the team.
But when Jindal was in charge, Delhi reached the playoffs multiple times. Another reason for this proposed change is the IPL mega auction cycle. If one group gets three years, they can build a team in the auction and then stick with their plan without many changes in management.
We would ideally want Kuldeep Yadav to be better than this: Hemang Badani
Meanwhile, things have turned worse for the Delhi Capitals after their 8-wicket loss to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and now the focus has shifted to Kuldeep Yadav, who is struggling badly this season. DC head coach Hemang Badani is hoping that Kuldeep can get back to his form because the team’s playoff chances are now in danger.

Kuldeep has so far had a poor season with the Delhi Capitals. His economy rate has gone above 10, and the spinner has picked up only 7 wickets in 10 matches so far this season.
Badani was quoted as saying by PTI: “We would ideally want Kuldeep to be better than this. But we will rally around him. He’s been somebody who’s been a part of this side for many many years. He’s done well for many many years. He can turn this around.”
The coach added, “I think it’s more the case of just about somebody’s striking form. He hasn’t struck peak form yet. He hasn’t bowled at the speeds that he would normally bowl. And I think it’s a question of time. I mean, we have faith in him.”
