Team India may soon get a new face in the coaching setup as Punjab Kings (PBKS) spin-bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule is now strongly in the race to get that position on the team. This news came at a time when captaincy changes are expected in the T20I setup after IPL 2026.
With talks growing around Shreyas Iyer or Hardik Pandya possibly becoming Team India’s next T20 captain, the team management is also planning some fresh changes in the support staff before the next international cycle begins, following the end of the ongoing IPL 2026.

Sairaj Bahutule has quietly built a strong reputation as a coach over the last few years. He is currently working with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing IPL 2026. The former Mumbai star is highly respected for his work with spin bowlers and young players.

Now, a Cricbuzz report suggests that Bahutule could soon join the India National Cricket Team as the spin-bowling coach. Bahutule has already spoken with the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir and senior BCCI officials about the possible role.
