Mitchell Starc registers worst ever IPL figures after massive thrashing against PBKS at Dharamshala

Mitchell Starc recorded the second-worst figures in T20 cricket after a massive thrashing from Priyansh Arya and Suryansh Shedge in the PBKS vs DC clash at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.

Mitchell Starc, the seasoned veteran and the Australian pro, is often regarded as one of the greatest pacers of this generation. Despite having made a late entry into this edition of the IPL, his contribution has been significant to Delhi’s limited success with the ball.

Starc picked up three wickets on return against Rajasthan in his comeback game, and the Capitals went on to win the game after Starc picked some handy wickets, including the highest scorer of that game, Riyan Parag.

Mitchell Starc records worst IPL figures against PBKS

Australian paceman and DC starlet Mitchell Starc steamed in from one end for the Delhi Capitals as he was handed the new ball. In the first over of the game, Priyansh Arya beat the crap out of him and thrashed his first over for 22 runs.

Starc did not return with the ball in the powerplay and only returned to bowl two quiet overs in the middle overs and the death. After just 19 of his next two overs, Starc struck twice in his final over, dismissing the dangerous Marcus Stoinis on the first ball.

However, after young Priyansh, it was some carnage from young Suryansh Shedge that will continue to horrify Starc for a long long time. The Australian was hit for a six off a hat trick ball and the boundary of the next. He was then hoiked over the mid-wicket region of his last ball for a gigantic six.

He finished with 2/57 in his four overs at an economy of 14.25, the worst ever in his IPL career and the second-worst figures of his T20 career. The worst ever came against New Zealand in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 final in Dubai, where he was taken for 60 runs off his four overs.

Marco Jansen dismissed KL Rahul with an absolutely stunning catch

Marco Jansen has probably been the safest pair of hands in the Punjab Kings lineup, which has been terrible on the field. While Jansen has not let anything slip away from those big paws, the other fielders have been sloppy on the field.

Shashank Singh, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal have been culprits on several occasions; however, they have been relatively better on the field after consecutive defeats due to their poor fielding efforts.

Jansen covered some remarkable amount of ground and took a catch diving backwards when KL Rahul skied a ball from Arshdeep Singh in his second over. It was an impressive catch under pressure, which even got Ricky Ponting excited in that PBKS dugout.

Cooper Connolly’s brilliant effort hands PBKS an advantage at Dharamshala

Arshdeep Singh was found guilty of dropping the first catch of the match after he dropped Tristan Stubbs in Ben Dwarshius’s first over. The player could have taken the game away, as he is known to be a very dangerous batter under such circumstances of the game.

However, Cooper Connolly didn’t let the match slide away from the Punjab Kings’ end, as he produced an effect with an astonishing effort on the field. Connolly picked up the ball amid a mix-up between Axar and Stubbs and aimed at the stumps towards the non-striker’s end.

Connolly was right on the money and Stubbs had to walk back. This wicket broke the partnership that was at one stage looking to bring the Capitals right back into the game.
