Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay made his maiden speech in the Assembly on Tuesday (May 12, 2026).
After J.C.D. Prabhakar took oath as Speaker, the proceedings started. Mr. Prabhakar invited Mr. Vijay to speak.
Mr. Vijay started his speech with a quote from former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. He said in this Assembly everyone is equal.
He also congratulated Mr. Prabhakar for becoming the Speaker and wished him to conduct the Assembly proceedings smoothly. He also described the procedure of Assembly Legislature leader and Opposition Legislature leader to take Speaker to his seat.
Addressing legislators after assuming office, Mr. Vijay outlined his government’s priorities on governance, welfare, youth development and transparency while urging cooperation across party lines.
