The Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) of Unique Identification Authority of India (UDAI) was opened at Viruthampattu village that comes under Vellore Corporation limits on Wednesday.

Accompanied by Pawan Kumar Pahwa, Director, UIDAI (Bengaluru), Collector V.R. Subbulaxmi, inaugurated the centre, which is fifth such facility in Tamil Nadu after Chennai, Madurai, Tirunelveli, and Krishnagiri. The new facility will offer Aadhaar enrolment, demographic and biometric updates, error correction, and grievance redressal services under one roof. The centre operates on all days except public holidays, thereby enhancing convenience and improving the resident experience.

The Aadhaar Seva Kendras are directly operated by UIDAI. The centres are designed to be fully inclusive and resident-friendly, with facilities such as wheelchair accessibility, accessible restrooms, and a dedicated grievance redressal mechanism.

Each Aadhaar Seva Kendra is managed by an ASK Manager who receives grievances from residents, forwards them to the concerned authorities, and ensures timely resolution.

Residents can also book appointments for Aadhaar services at ASKs online by visiting UIDAI Aadhaar appointment portal: https://bookappointment.uidai.gov.in.

Mandatory biometric updates for children aged 5–17 years are now being provided free of cost till September 2026, and the facility is available both in school camps and Aadhaar Seva Kendras.
