We missed recognizing one of the achievements of our featured artist Amritha Rajan on being picked by none other than A. R. Rahman, among the top 10 for his much-publicized #99SongsCoverStar Contest. This is more about Amritha more than what this contest was about. Yet, a short description of what was #99SongsCoverStar Contest in context to his last year’s much-publicized release of the movie and the songs. ARR himself is a music composer and singer. In his pandemic year movie, many songs were given to some of the new talents which were very refreshing. In addition to that, his announcement of the #99SongsCoverStar Contest was like a fresh breath in a pandemic year where the whole world was not breathing fresh at all. This call made a frenzy among prospective young talents to busy post their entries all over the social media to be considered for this. The result was an amazing response from all over the world since the announcement said the chosen few will get a chance to work with ARR. Our featured artists proved to be world-class talents
A little bit of shameless bragging here. Many of our past featured singers from Smule India went on to be recognized by major music competitions and found a place in their music careers.
To name a few, Hrishikesh, Sourajit, Kritirupa Sarkar all got rare national recognition in the Mirchi Coverstar competitions. Sanjay Santhosh won the contest of many Kerala-based competitions. All credit goes to them where we recognized all these talents quite early in their career by interviewing them and that itself put them to take a good look at their career as musicians seriously. Amritha Rajan when I met her years ago in 2018 was a young talent just in her early teens and what I saw was an amazing talent that no doubt in my mind she got everything to be successful as a musician. She took music as the career and here in 2021 last June it found a great success to be getting the very attention of A. R. Rahman sir, to be in Top 15. Not an achievement to be overlooked.
In 2018 when we were screening for young talents, it was our great supporters and past featured singers Nithish Bhaskaran, and Hrishikesh Subramonian who brought the name of Amritha to our notice. Amritha’s as a Music director – debutant entry
Amritha’s music debut as a major short film music director and singer during the pandemic year was widely seen as her major achievement last year. Even Mohanlal praised this short film for its positive message and artistic content. The movie itself is critically acclaimed, amazingly well made with a background score and music by Rohith Krishnan and Amritha. Vocals were also done by Amritha herself. This is a movie for you all to watch for sure where the cinematic craftsmanship shown by these youngsters is Amazing.

When 2021 comes to an end it gives us much joy and pleasure to write about youngsters like Amritha again. Everyone including established singers talks about how depressing these times are in their lifetime, many youngsters found ways to spend the time stuck at home to be productive and make striding changes in their careers. We are here again for a fresh start of the year with 3 to 5 singers selected from the Smule India community to be given a chance to tell their stories here. Also gearing up to go for preparations for this year’s coveted Smule India Awards 2021 process. Hope is that we find the most deserving candidates this year as well. A note to Amritha, Amritha you are an all-time favorite finding of our pages. Knew how talented you are when I first met you and personally I haven’t seen a youngster who is so well-groomed and intelligent beyond age.
