The Shivamogga district unit of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Thursday staged a protest here, condemning the alleged leak of the NEET-UG 2026 medical entrance examination question paper and accusing the Central government for the paper leak.

The protesters formed a human chain at Mahaveera Circle and staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Later, they submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India, to Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti.

The protesters said that there had been repeated incidents of paper leaks in the recent years. The development had left lakhs of students in shock. There had been reports of miscreants close to people in the ruling party being involved in the leak. They also suspected the role of the coaching mafia in the paper leak.

They wanted the President to remove the Central government for failing to protect the credibility and security of the national examination. NSUI district president Vijay Kumar, working president Ravi Katikere and others led the protest.
