Priyansh Arya Matches Rare Ambati Rayudu IPL Feat

Punjab Kings faced off against Mumbai Indians in the 58th match of the current IPL season. On May 14, under the shadow of the hills, they met at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Having lost the toss, Punjab took their turn at batting right from the start

A ball earlier, Priyansh Arya stepped up to open the batting – yet his time at the crease didn’t shift momentum much. Out for 22 during the team’s first turn with the bat, he found pace but not staying power.

Priyansh Arya’s innings placed him alongside ex-India batter Ambati Rayudu – both now stand as only uncapped Indians to clear 350 runs in each of their opening two campaigns. His tally? Four hundred seventy-five during 2025, followed by three hundred fifty-three in 2026. Back then, Rayudu managed three hundred fifty-six in 2010, later lifting it to three hundred ninety-five the next year

Priyansh Arya reached 200 runs when batting first
Out of nowhere, Priyansh Arya tapped 22 for Punjab Kings. Then came Prabhsimran Singh – 57 off just 32 balls, sharp and sudden. Cooper Connolly followed, scraping 21 from 22, inch by slow inch. After that? Quiet. The middle lineup fizzled when noise was needed most.

Punjab Kings reached 200 runs in their first innings, thanks to Azmatullah Omarzai’s quick 38 off just 17 balls. While Vishnu Vinod contributed 15, Xavier Bartlett added 18 more on the board. On the bowling front, Shardul Thakur led the attack for Mumbai Indians by claiming four wickets. Two dismissals came through Deepak Chahar’s efforts, whereas Corbin Bosch and Raj Bawa chipped in with one each.

After four straight defeats, Punjab Kings steadied their batting toward the end of the first innings; now they’re counting on their bowlers to deliver just as well. Their aim? Snap the slide with something solid, finally.
