Shubman Gill’s savage Instagram post goes viral after GT get humbled by KKR in IPL 2026

Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill once again took to Instagram after his team’s loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata on Saturday.

After the match, Gill made a viral Instagram post as he had for each of the last five matches of his team. The difference being that GT had won each of their last five matches before this loss.

Allen, Narine end GT’s win streak

The Gujarat Titans captain, Shubman Gill, chose to bowl first and immediately had to pay the price. Finn Allen continued his excellent form by smashing 93 runs off just 35 balls, including 10 sixes.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green built on Allen’s good work to both make unbeaten fifties of their own. Raghuvanshi made 82 runs from 44 balls while Green made 52 from 28 as KKR survived quite a few dropped chances to post 247. Allen was dropped twice, while Raghuvanshi and Green were dropped once each.

GT’s chase didn’t really get going at the start. Shubman Gill and his opening partner, Sai Sudharsan, started decently, but Sudharsan got injured early in the chase and had to retire hurt.

Gill then joined forces with a demoted Jos Buttler, and the two started building a partnership. Both of them got fifties, but ultimately, GT were always behind the run rate. When Sunil Narine dismissed Gill as his second wicket, Sudharsan arrived at the crease and completed his own fifty.

Despite having three half-centurions, Shubman Gill’s men were unable to close out the chase and lost by a net run rate-damaging margin of 29 runs.

Shubman Gill makes another Instagram post

During GT’s 5-match winning streak, Gill had made viral Instagram posts trolling each one of the teams GT had defeated.

Now that the streak is broken, Gill once again took to Instagram, but appeared to take a shot at his own team this time.

Gill posted an image from the match and captioned it “We’ll catch the next one”, likely a reference to the four catches dropped by his men on the day.

After the match, Gill said that the Gujarat Titans hadn’t deserved to win the match, especially because of the dropped chances.

Looking at the wicket, 200-210 was par score, but we dropped too many catches. Pitch was good, the odd one was stopping, but I felt we batted well to get to the score we did. No concerns, but our fielding could’ve been a lot better. We set a certain standard and dropping 3 sitters – we didn’t deserve to win this one,” he said at the post-match presentation.

GT’s next match and playoffs scenarios

The Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans have now played 13 out of their scheduled 14 league stage matches in IPL 2026. Their last game is on 21 May against the Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad.

For now, GT’s destiny is mostly in their own hands. Even if they lose to CSK, GT are more likely to make the playoffs than not. A win against CSK would mean that GT are in control of their destiny, whereas a loss would leave them dependent on other results.

Even if GT are to depend on other results after losing to CSK, they are extremely likely to make the top four, and possibly even the top two.
