Delegation to review adherence to solid waste management agreement at Jawahar Nagar

A delegation of public representatives which met the HIMSW (Hyderabad Integrated Municipal Solid Waste) Ltd., representatives at the solid waste management facility in Jawahar Nagar, decided to review the adherence issues flagged by the residents of surrounding colonies, with the concessionaire agreement as the benchmark.

The delegation, comprising Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender, Medchal MLA Ch. Malla Reddy, and Commissioner, Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation T. Vinay Krishna Reddy, and Additional Commissioner (Sanitation) Raghu Prasad, learnt about the waste management practices, and checks against pollution from the concessionaire firm. They were told that the leachate treatment plant is not functioning at the optimum level.

The company representatives reportedly blamed the legacy waste dump for the pollution, and claimed that the concessionaire agreement did not include the legacy dump.

In view of the claim, it has been decided to go over the agreement once again, to check adherence by the HIMSW with regard to waste processing and disposal.

A meeting has been scheduled with the Anti-Jawahar Nagar Dump Yard Joint Action Committee representatives on Saturday, to learn the travails of the residential colonies around the facility. They will be presented before the HIMSW, seeking response, after which an official inspection will be conducted at the facility, officials informed, explaining the plan of action.
