Superb stumping by Prabhsimran Singh. Ayush Badoni, the dangerous well-set batter of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), had to go after playing an explosive knock. Punjab Kings (PBKS) are looking good tonight against the Rishabh Pant-led side.
It is a must-win game for PBKS as they have gone down by 6 defeats in a row. To claim the fourth spot of the points table, Punjab’s first duty is to secure 2 points against the Lucknow Super Giants.
Ayush Badoni tried to shift the momentum.
The way Prabhsimran Singh dislodged the bails to dismiss Ayush Badoni, it shows how hungry they are for the points from this match. Badoni posed a real threat in the middle. The middle-order batter scored 43 runs in only 18 balls. Badoni’s innings was laced with five 4s and three 6s.
It is worth noting that Mitchell Marsh is not with the team for the match. The absence of Marsh is a major blow for LSG. Without the Aussie batter in the line-up, LSG’s opening pair fell apart against the bowling attack of PBKS.
Prabhsimran Singh did a fantastic job of stumping Badoni.
Ayush Badoni quickly shifted the gears as soon as he stepped onto the pitch. With his big hits, Lucknow found a way to recover from the early blows. Yuzvendra Chahal, who has enough experience in his bag, tricked the batter during the seventh over of the first innings, after the power play. Badoni’s foot was only a few millimeters away from touching the ground before Prabhsimran Singh’s quick hands hit the stumps.
The Punjab Kings wicketkeeper shows his presence during the whole process. Chahal produced a flatter, on the shorter side of the pitch, and on the off. Badoni stayed behind to play the cut shot, but could not make any connection with it.
Prabhsimran collected the ball behind the stumps and waited for a while before clubbing the bails off. The keeper waited for the batter to raise his foot off the crease. As soon as the batter took his foot off the ground, Prabhsimran Singh spotted his moment and hit the bails. Punjab Kings got this wicket against the run of play.
An example of a great presence of mind
The umpire went upstairs to check the process. The third umpire first checks whether there was any thin feather connected between the bat and the ball. The UltraEdge meter shows a flat line, and then the umpire checked for the stumping. The replay shows Badoni slightly lifting his leg from the ground, and at that moment, Prabhsimrah Singh hit the stumps. A brilliant move by PBKS, especially the credit goes to the keeper who shows his presence of mind.
To claim a win tonight, the Shreyas Iyer-led team will need something more special from the boys. Prabhsimran Singh delivered one; a few more could come from the other players as well as the match progresses.
