Fans go berserk after Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s insane 97 off 29 balls in IPL 2026 Eliminator vs SRH

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi wreaked havoc at the New PCA Stadium as he absolutely destroyed the SRH pacers, hitting 12 sixes in his 97-run knock that threatened Chris Gayle’s second-biggest record in the history of the IPL.

Rajasthan Royals picked out a 13-year-old youngster, as Rahul Dravid felt he could be someone special in the coming years. Before he gets even 16, Sooryavanshi has the world at his feet within just two seasons of the IPL.

Rajasthan Royals set the tone of their innings with Sooryavanshi’s record-smashing innings. With the start, the Royals went past the 200-run mark in no time and were looking to threaten the record set by RCB in an IPL playoff at Dharamsala.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi misses out on Chris Gayle’s century record after record feat vs SRH

Vaibhav is just playing his second season in the IPL and broke the record of the legendary batter Chris Gayle at the age of 15. Having broken the six-hitting record of the former RCB batter, he now has 65 sixes in a single season of the IPL and has gone much past the great Chris Gayle’s former record of 59.

Sooryavanshi continued the onslaught after a half-century off, just 16 balls within the powerplay itself. He then threatened Gayle’s 30-ball century record before getting dismissed for 97 runs off just 29 balls. He missed out on a hundred and a second record for Gayle.

The 15-year-old is already second and third on that list of fastest centuries in the history of the IPL. He has scored two IPL hundreds, one off just 35 balls and the other off just 36 balls, which came this season.

Sooryavanshi equalled Chris Gayle’s six-hitting record in the IPL

Sooryavanshi has earned his name for his massive six-hitting record in the IPL. Chris Gayle has another former record where he hit ten or more sixes in a single innings for a record number of four times.

Vaibhav, whose six-hitting standards set him on a different level, has equaled the record formerly set by Gayle. He too has smashed 10+ sixes in a single innings of the IPL four times, three of which came in this season of the IPL.

Sooryavanshi had played such an innings for the first time in the 2025 fixture against the Gujarat Titans when he scored his maiden IPL century.
