Former RCB captain Virat Kohli has once again found himself at the centre of a storm after apparently taking a dig at the Gujarat Titans after the IPL 2026 final.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru created history by becoming just the third team to successfully defend their IPL title. RCB beat the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Sunday to lift their second IPL title in as many years.
Kohli played a starring role in the win with his innings of 75* and walked away with the Player of the Match Award
RCB win two IPL titles in a row
At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, RCB created history by winning their second IPL title in a row.
Rajat Patidar’s decision to bowl first was vindicated as GT’s famed opening pair of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan were sent back in the powerplay itself.
The Titans’ gamble of promoting Nishant Sindhu didn’t work out, and Jos Buttler didn’t have a good day either. Washington Sundar hit a fifty, and Arshad Khan played an impactful cameo, but GT only got 156.
Rasikh Salam was the star of the show with three wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar chipped in with two as well.
Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer set out to chase it down as fast as they could. The opening pair put up 62 in just 4.3 overs, and when the powerplay ended, the required rate was less than a run-a-ball.
After the powerplay, though, GT fought back and effected a collapse, but Kohli soldiered on with an unbeaten 75 to give RCB the win. Kohli himself hit the winning runs and won the Player of the Match Award.
Virat Kohli trolls GT after win
During RCB’s trophy celebrations, Kohli seemed to take a shot at the Gujarat Titans and their branding.
In the now viral video, Kohli was seen talking to RCB’s Mr. Nags. Mr. Nags is a character played by comedian-turned-influencer Danish Sait and has been with RCB since 2014.
Kohli was heard saying, “Trophy aava de and home jaava de, thank you very much.”
Kohli’s words could be interpreted as “Let the trophy come to us, and let me go home, thank you very much,” but “Aava De” is the Gujarat Titans’ tagline.
GT skipper Shubman Gill has been a riot this season on Instagram with his caption game after each win by his team.
