Jordan Cox recalls unforgettable batting moment alongside Virat Kohli at RCB

It was a mixed feeling for Jordan Cox when the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) celebrated with their second IPL trophy. Cox was one of the players in the IPL 2026 winning team’s roster, which was definitely a proud moment for him. But it might have made him sad as he did not play a single match for the team on the road to the championship.

During a recent conversation with ESPNCricinfo, Cox admitted that it was a frustrating period for him as he had to see all the action from the sidelines. But he gathered some unforgettable memories as he got to share the same practice sessions with the legend Virat Kohli.

Cox joined RCB for his base price

Jordan Cox was signed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for INR 75 Lakh during the IPL 2026 auction. The English wicketkeeper-batter was acquired at his base price. Cox is recognized as one of the most exciting talents in limited-overs cricket, especially in the T20 format.

Many expected to see him playing in the 2026 Indian Premier League with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but that did not happen. The 25-year-old English keeper-batter will have to wait longer to make his IPL debut.

During the interview, Jordan Cox shared every possible detail about Virat Kohli as his teammate. The emerging cricketer might have had a perception about the superstar Virat Kohli, which did not last long, as he found the Indian batting maestro humble and helpful as a teammate.

Virat was always there to support his teammate

Cox reveals that he did not expect Virat Kohli to be so helpful to him. According to him, Kohli was always there to support him with the knowledge he had gathered over the years.

“He will give you every single bit of information he has in his brain to try and help you, which for me was something that I didn’t expect… For someone like that who’s achieved everything you’d want to achieve in the game, he gives you everything,” Jordan Cox mentions.

The Kent-born further emphasized that he was very fortunate to do several batting drills with Virat in the nets. Cox got the opportunity to share the practice ground with another Englishman, Phil Salt. The tips he received from the veterans of the game helped Jordan Cox learn more during the IPL 2026 season.

I’ve been lucky enough to bat with VK: Jordan Cox

“I’ve been lucky enough to bat with VK a few times in the nets, which has been pretty awesome. Even batting with Salty [Phil Salt], someone that’s been the No. 1-ranked T20 batter in the world, to learn different types of shots and types of opportunities to take down bowling: I feel like my game [against] spin has gone to another level now,” he further added.

Jordan Cox’s last official appearance was on February 24, 2026, for the England Lions, against the Pakistan Shaheens. He registered one seventy-plus run knock in games against the Shaheens.
