The Special Court for POCSO Act cases in Coimbatore on Wednesday (June 3) granted the police a three-day custody of the two accused in the case pertaining to the alleged sexual assault-cum-murder of a 10-year-old girl near Sulur on the city outskirts recently.
The two, K. Karthi (35) and R. Mohan (31) of Pallapalayam, were produced before the court amid tight security by the police.

Karthi was brought to the court in an ambulance and on a stretcher as he had allegedly fractured his right arm and right leg while attempting to escape from the police on May 22. He later suffered assault from four convicts in the Coimbatore Central Prison during judicial remand.
The investigating team moved the court seeking custody of the duo a few days ago, as the police could not question them in detail before recording their arrests on May 23.

The investigating team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Karikal Pari Shankar will interrogate Karthi and Mohan in custody to extract more details of the crime, from its plotting to execution. To revisit the crime scene, the police are expected to take the accused to the private land abutting Kannampalayam tank near Sulur and other places associated with the crime.
