Can India Rest Jasprit Bumrah vs Netherlands?

Date:

India can now rest their players who need recovery time because their T20 World Cup Super Eight progress secured their upcoming match against the Netherlands on February 18. The team needs to think about whether to rest Jasprit Bumrah who requires special care from Indian management during this unimportant match against the Dutch team.

Bumrah will not receive rest at this time according to India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak because the match lacks any competitive value. “Don’t think Bumrah will rest. We will decide later,” Kotak said during the pre-match press conference on Thursday.

Experience to play in Ahmedabad key

India will face the Dutch in their last league stage match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India would want their key players to get the experience of playing in Ahmedabad as they will face South Africa in their first Super Eight match at the venue.

The World Cup final will take place in Ahmedabad if Pakistan and Sri Lanka both fail to reach the championship match. The Men in Blue require Ahmedabad experience because they need to prepare for matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the upcoming Super Eight stage of the tournament.

Bumrah has been a key bowler for India for several years now his presence boosts the team’s strength. He missed the USA match due to illness but returned for the Namibia and Pakistan match where he achieved 2/17 against the Men in Green.

The batting coach shows no concern about Abhishek Sharma’s performance problems which he demonstrates during the World Cup matches. The star opener who missed his second match because of a stomach illness has achieved two ducks in his two matches played.

“He wasn’t well. Last game he got out in the first over. We don’t want to overanalyse. Kotak said his plans are already established when asked about teams which have solved how to play against the flamboyant opener.

Kotak praised opener Ishan Kishan’s mental strength because the keeper-batter displayed a “confident” nature. “He has always been a very confident player since his younger days. “That T20 cricket mindset exists for T20 cricket according to Kotak about Kishan who led India to a 61-run victory against Pakistan with his half-century performance.

The coach stated that India will approach their match against the Netherlands with full seriousness. “From the start of this World Cup, we have seen any team can beat any team. That is why every game is important.”
