The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has confirmed that they will play Sri Lanka in a white-ball series which will take place from March 13 to 25 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and will include three ODIs and three T20I matches according to a release.
The T20I part of the series will start first and both teams will compete against each other in their opening T20I match which will take place on March 13 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and the second and third T20I matches will occur on March 15 and March 17 at the same location.
The ODI series will begin at Dubai which will host matches on March 20 and 22 and 25 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The first Sri Lanka visit to our country makes us very happy because we have never hosted this team before. The event demonstrates the power of our partnership with the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and we plan to develop our relationship as we work together to deliver high-quality cricketing conditions for upcoming events. The Sri Lankan team has been performing at a high level in their recent matches and we anticipate an exciting white-ball series between two skilled teams which will showcase their talent,” Naseeb Khan, CEO of ACB, said.
The series supports our organization because it helps us create our team while we work on improving specific parts of our operations. He mentioned that their main objective involves training the team for major ICC and ACC tournaments along with multiple bilateral matches which will take place throughout the upcoming two years.
The three T20Is will be played in Sharjah, while the ODIs will take place in Dubai. The last time the two sides met in a bilateral series was in early 2024, when Afghanistan toured Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won both series because they achieved a 3-0 whitewash in the ODIs and took the T20I series 2-1.
