Ahead of key repo rate announcement, stock markets jump over 3% on US-Iran ceasefire agreement

The Indian shares surged over 3% Wednesday, following a global rally and a sharp fall in crude oil prices after US and Iran agreed to to a two-week ceasefire.

The BSE Sensex climbed 2,700 points to 77,325.58 and NSE’s Nifty 50 jumped almost 800 points to 23,922.

The Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) is widely expected to keep its ‌interest ⁠rates unchanged, as policymakers assess the fallout from the Iran war.
