Australia women produced a strong batting performance on Day 2 of the Only Test against India women at the WACA Ground to take control of the match. Resuming the day at 96/3, Australia continued their solid progress and were eventually bowled out for 323 in 90.4 overs. The highlight of the innings was a crucial 128-run partnership between Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland for the fourth wicket, which came in 169 balls and helped the hosts build a commanding total.
Perry played a steady knock, scoring 76 runs off 116 deliveries, including 10 fours and one six. After her dismissal, Sutherland continued to dominate and stitched together another important partnership, adding 54 runs with Beth Mooney for the fifth wicket in 92 balls.
Sutherland went on to score a magnificent 129 runs off 171 balls, hitting 17 boundaries in a memorable innings. With this knock, she became the first women’s cricketer to score three consecutive centuries in Test cricket, further underlining her remarkable form in the format.
For India, Sayali Satghare was the most successful bowler, finishing with impressive figures of 4/50 in 18.4 overs. Kranti Gaud picked up two wickets for 72 runs, while Deepti Sharma also claimed two wickets, conceding 67 runs.
In response, India struggled during their second innings and were reduced to 105/6 in 29 overs at stumps on Day 2. Pratika Rawal remained unbeaten on 43, while Sneh Rana was batting on 14 as the visitors looked to rebuild.
For Australia, Lucy Hamilton led the bowling effort with figures of 3/32. Sutherland capped off a brilliant all-round day by taking 2/15, while Darcie Brown chipped in with 1/37 by the end of the day’s play.

Annabel Sutherland emerged as the standout batting performer of the day with a magnificent innings for the Australia women. The all-rounder scored a brilliant 129 runs off 171 deliveries, striking 17 fours during her commanding knock. Sutherland played a key role in strengthening Australia’s position by building crucial partnerships in the middle order. She first added 128 runs in 169 balls for the fourth wicket alongside Ellyse Perry, a stand that helped stabilise the innings and shift the momentum firmly in Australia’s favour. After Perry’s dismissal, Sutherland continued her dominance and stitched together another valuable partnership with Beth Mooney. The duo added 54 runs in 92 balls for the fifth wicket, further extending Australia’s advantage.

Sayali Satghare emerged as the top bowling performer of the day for the India women with an impressive spell against Australia women. The right-arm pacer delivered a disciplined performance, finishing with excellent figures of 4/50 in 18.4 overs, including two maiden overs, while maintaining a tight economy rate of 2.70. Her spell played a crucial role in restricting Australia’s scoring rate during key phases of the innings. Her wickets included Georgia Voll, Alyssa Healy, Alana King, and Lucy Hamilton.
