The year 2026 is loaded with massive theatrical releases across every industry, and in Bollywood, the first such release of the year is Border 2, the Sunny Deol-led highly anticipated sequel, announced after the all-time blockbuster success of Gadar 2. Though its teaser didn’t satisfy audiences enough to empty their pockets, the trailer did connect with the masses, even though it is based on the 1971 Indo-Pak War, just like its prequel. A good volume of this connection seems to be working in the Border 2 advance booking.
Does Border 2 Have Less Shows?
As for Border 2’s screens and shows, the problem that arose was due to distributor Anil Thadani’s (AA Films) strategy of distributing this war drama to exhibitors only on the promise of allotting 50% of shows to Toxic on Eid 2026, leading to disagreement between the two parties as the exhibitors wish to give a better showcasing to Dhurandhar Part 2 during the future period. The exhibitor’s reply does seem genuine, too, as the blockbuster Dhurandhar is running in its seventh week across Indian theaters, while Border 2 nears its release.
Finally, the Sunny Deol starrer was locked to release on 4,800 screens across India, getting 17,000 shows per day.

How much is the Border 2 Advance Booking in India?
The Border 2 advance booking started in India in full swing in the morning of 19 January (Monday) on a promising note. But later, the momentum seemed to have dipped due to improper allotment of shows and screens. In the first 24 hours of its advance booking, Border 2, with this incomplete showcasing, sold 18,000 tickets across Indian national chains (PVR Inox and Cinepolis) for its Day 1, with 3 days remaining before its release, a lower total than War 2 in the same time frame.
With 2 days left before release, Border 2 (2026) movie sold 37,000 tickets across Indian national chains, performing below the advance bookings of War 2, Dhurandhar, and Fighter. However, the numbers continue to look underwhelming in the Border 2 advance booking report, as 5,000 shows for any big release in PIC is a necessity, leaving the war drama in a bit of a disappointing situation.
