BRS stages protest at Gun Park demanding BC Sub-Plan

HYDERABAD

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislators on Thursday staged a protest at the Gun Park in front of the Assembly demanding implementation of the Backward Classes (BC) Sub-Plan as part of the Congress party’s pre-poll BC Declaration made at Kamareddy, by holding placards and raising slogans.

Party’s Deputy Floor Leaders in the Assembly Talasani Srinivas Yadav and T. Harish Rao and others accused the Congress party of wilfully deceiving the BCs by making impossible promises to them, particularly 42% reservation to them in the local bodies, knowing well that it was possible only by getting included the enhancement in the ninth schedule of the Constitution.

Mr. Srinivas Yadav reminded the ruling party that it had promised to spend at least ₹20,000 crore for the BC Sub-Plan in every budget, but did not allocate even half that amount in the two previous budgets. In 2023-24, for the remainder of that fiscal from the time they took over, had promised to spend ₹800 crore but had not spent anything.

In the second year, 2024-25, the government had allocated over ₹11,000 crore but had spent only ₹3,000 crore.
