Fakhar Zaman Challenges PSL Ban After Ball Tampering Row

Fakhar Zaman, a seasoned name in Pakistan cricket, missed two PSL games after being penalized for tampering with the ball’s state. On Tuesday, it came out that officials ruled against him following an incident last Sunday. During a clash between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings, scrutiny fell on his actions under Article 2.14. That rule covers misconduct tied to changing how the ball behaves mid-game. The PCB confirmed he’d breached standards meant for players and support staff alike. Referee oversight labeled it a Level 3 infraction – serious but not extreme. Outcome? A two-match ban took effect without delay.

According to a report in Geo News, quoting sources, “Fakhar Zaman has challenged his two-match suspension over ball-tampering charges during his side’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) match against Karachi Kings.”

A few moments ahead of the final over, something caught the umpires’ eye. Five penalty runs were given after they spotted possible ball-tampering by Lahore Qalandars. The match ball got swapped right before Karachi Kings began their last six deliveries.

Shahid Saikat and Faisal Khan Aafreedi, working on the field, brought the call forward. Over at the screen, Asif Yaqoob agreed without delay. Standing by, Tariq Rasheed added his name to the report. Together, their decision stood firm.

Fakhar did not admit guilt, choosing instead to challenge the accusation during a complete conduct review under the established guidelines.

Fakhar faced a review by match referee Roshan Mahanama, who held a hearing before reaching a decision. Evidence was examined thoroughly, then given time for response. The process included space to speak, followed by judgment. After listening closely, clarity came through careful steps taken one at a time.

Finding their way into the room, Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi stood alongside team director Sameen Rana while team manager Farooq Anwar took position nearby during the session. Though quiet at times, each played a role simply by being there when matters unfolded before them.

Lahore Qalandars meet Multan Sultans first, that clash set for April 3 at Gaddafi Stadium. Following close behind, their game against Islamabad United rolls into view on April 9 – this one unfolding at National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

Fines came down hard on Shaheen Shah Afridi after a slip in PSL safety rules at the Lahore hotel. Team bosses didn’t look past the mistake – Lahore Qalandars deducted a full million rupees. What happened behind closed doors stayed there, but the penalty showed zero tolerance. Security missteps aren’t brushed aside here. The moment things went off track, consequences followed without delay.

A hefty sum was handed down by the PCB’s discipline panel on Monday – 20 million rupees – after pacer Naseem Shah posted a contentious message online. The post broke rules tied to his national contract with the cricket board
