Fans go wild as Mukul Choudhary’s late blitz powers LSG to thrilling win over KKR in IPL 2026

In a high-scoring thriller at Eden Gardens, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) edged past Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by three wickets in Match 15 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Chasing a competitive target of 182, LSG held their nerve in a tense final over, thanks to a sensational knock from Mukul Choudhary, who turned the game on its head with a fearless display of power-hitting.

KKR post competitive 181 with strong middle-order contributions

After being put in to bat, KKR got off to a steady start, led by skipper Ajinkya Rahane. The experienced batter looked in fine touch, scoring 41 off just 24 deliveries, peppered with elegant boundaries and two sixes. However, Finn Allen’s early dismissal meant KKR couldn’t fully capitalize on the powerplay.

Young Angkrish Raghuvanshi continued to impress with a composed 45 off 33 balls, anchoring the innings through the middle overs. Cameron Green provided solid support with a fluent 32, while Rinku Singh had a rare off day with the bat.

The momentum shifted dramatically in the death overs as Rovman Powell unleashed his power game. His explosive 39 off 24 balls, including four boundaries and two towering sixes, propelled KKR to a strong total of 181/4 in their 20 overs.

For LSG, the bowling effort was disciplined but lacked breakthroughs at crucial moments. Digvesh Rathi was the most economical, conceding just 25 runs, while Prince Yadav, M. Siddharth, and Avesh Khan picked up one wicket each. Mohammad Shami, despite bowling tightly, went wicketless.

Mukul Choudhary’s heroics seal dramatic win for LSG

In response, LSG’s chase got off to a shaky start as they lost early wickets. Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram showed brief intent but couldn’t convert their starts into substantial scores. The pressure mounted further when captain Rishabh Pant departed cheaply, leaving LSG in a tricky position.

Ayush Badoni then stepped up with a crucial innings, scoring a well-crafted 54 off 34 balls. His knock kept LSG in the hunt, but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, including Nicholas Pooran and Abdul Samad, putting the chase in jeopardy.

Just when the game seemed to be slipping away, Choudhary produced a stunning counterattack. Playing a fearless brand of cricket, he smashed 54 runs off just 27 deliveries, including seven massive sixes that swung the momentum decisively in LSG’s favor. With the equation tight in the final over, Choudhary held his composure and ensured LSG crossed the finish line, ending at 182/7 in 20 overs.

KKR bowlers put up a spirited fight, with Vaibhav Arora and Anukul Roy picking up two wickets each. Sunil Narine was exceptional with his control, conceding just 13 runs in four overs while taking a wicket. However, the lack of containment in the death overs proved costly, especially against Choudhary’s onslaught.
