Hakki Pikki people from Angadihalli stuck in Bahrain

Date:

As many as five tribal people, belonging to the Hakki-Pikki community of Angadihalli in Belur taluk of Hassan, have been stranded in Bahrain after the air strikes in the city following the conflict in the Middle East.

Panju, Jamuna, Ratheesh, Veerendra, Pouran, and another person from the village had been to Bahrain recently. In a video message sent to her relatives, Ms. Jamuna said that she and her family members had been to Bahrain to sell hair oil and other plant extracts.

There was an airstrike close to the place they were settled in that city. A person, a native of Mangaluru, helped them stay at a safe place temporarily. The lady, in the video message, appealed to the Indian government to come to their rescue.

Many Hakki Pikki people, including those settled in Angadihalli, travel to Middle Eastern and African countries to sell plant extracts. Recently, a few people from Shivamogga and Davangere districts had been to Ghana, and they were stuck there after the local authorities restricted them from selling their products.
