HCC Q3 Profit; Wins Rs 577 Cr Tunnel Order, Stock Falls 1%

Shares of Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC) fell 1% on 13th February after touching the day’s high of Rs 20.40, despite the company securing a railway contract worth approximately Rs 577.89 crore from the Northeast Frontier Railway.

The project has been awarded to the HCC–VCCL joint venture, where HCC holds a 65% stake.

The scope includes completing four key tunnels and associated cut-and-cover works. It also involves earthwork for embankments and cutting to build the railway alignment. In addition, it includes protection and related works between the Piphema and Zubza section under the Dimapur–Kohima New Broad Gauge line project.

On Thursday, 12th February, the company also reported a turnaround in its third-quarter performance. It posted a net profit of Rs 8 crore compared with a loss of Rs 38.9 crore in the same period last year.

On the financial front, consolidated revenue fell 8.1% year-over-year to Rs 925.3 crore from Rs 1,006 crore. However, EBITDA improved sharply to Rs 67.2 crore, up from a loss of Rs 30.7 crore last year. This reflected stronger operating performance.

On a standalone basis, Q3FY26 revenue declined to Rs 921.8 crore from Rs 1,002.1 crore in Q3FY25.

Despite lower revenue, the company reported a standalone net profit of Rs 85.9 crore, compared to a loss of Rs 216.4 crore in the same quarter last year. Standalone EBITDA margins improved to 15.2% from 14.7% year-over-year. This indicates better efficiency.

At 11:32 AM, shares of HCC were trading 1% lower at Rs 19.90 on NSE.
