India Women in Australia 2025/26, AUS-W vs IND-W 1st ODI Match Report, February 24, 2026

Date:

India won the toss and chose to bat against Australia

Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth will miss the ODI series against World Cup champions India due to quad strains as returning Australia captain Alyssa Healy starts her farewell tour in game one at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
Georgia Voll, listed to bat at No.3, has been recalled into the ODI team after her 88 in the second T20I was Australia’s standout knock in the series. Legspinner Alana King is back after being on the outer of T20I cricket and so too Tahlia McGrath, who was not selected in the T20 leg.
Perry and Garth both suffered the injuries in the third T20I, with Megan Schutt and left-arm quick Lucy Hamilton added to the squad.

Healy is a welcome addition for an Australia team trailing 4-2 on points in the multi-format series after a 2-1 defeat in the T20 leg. She has not played international cricket since Australia’s shock World Cup semi-final defeat to India in October.

Healy won’t take the gloves with Beth Mooney taking the role as Australia’s full-time wicketkeeper.

After electing to bat amid overcast conditions, India will showcase a rejigged batting line-up with Pratika Rawal returning after knee and ankle injuries cut short her World Cup. She was a late inclusion into the ODI squad after only initially being selected in the Test squad.
She will open with Shafali Verma set to bat at No.3 while seam bowling allrounder Kashvee Gautam has been named after some solid performances in the WPL.

India have never won an ODI series against Australia, but enter with confidence and return to the format for the first time since memorably lifting the World Cup title.

Australia, however, will be buoyed by their amazing record at the Allan Border Field having won all 20 completed ODIs at the ground, including twice against India in December 2024.

The match will be played amid Brisbane’s typical muggy conditions and there is a threat of showers in the early afternoon.
