East Bengal FC cruised to its second successive win in ISL-12 with a dominant 4-1 showing against Sporting Club Delhi at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Saturday.

A young Delhi side started brightly and stunned the home crowd as early as the fourth minute. SC Delhi winger Augustine Lalrochana surged down the left flank, beat East Bengal defenders Jay Gupta and Anwar Ali, and slotted a grounded shot past goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Singh Gill.

Swift response

However, East Bengal responded swiftly and restored parity in the seventh minute through Edmund Lalrindika. A Bipin Singh free-kick was only partially cleared by the Delhi defence, and the ball reached Lalrindika outside the box. The crafty winger unleashed a powerful first-time volley that beat the Delhi custodian Vishal Yadav all ends up.

The host went ahead in the 12th minute after Lalrindika was brought down inside the penalty area by defender Clarence Savio Fernandes. Youssef Ezzejjari calmly converted from the spot to make it 2–1.

The home team extended the advantage in the 40th minute when Ezzejjari finished off a fine assist from Miguel Ferreira, effectively putting the game beyond Delhi’s reach (3-1). Ferreira then capped off a commanding performance with a well-taken solo effort in added time, thereby sealing a comprehensive 4-1 victory for the Kolkata giant.

The result: East Bengal FC 4 (Edmund Lalrindika 7, Youssef Ezzejjari 12-pen, 40, Miguel Ferreira 90+5) bt Sporting Club Delhi 1 (Augustine Lalrochana 4).
