Matt Henry to be released from CSK in the middle of IPL 2026, demands Ex-BCCI selector

Former India captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth is disgusted with the poor performance of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League season. With the defeat against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the former champions completed their hat-trick of defeats in the ongoing season.

Behind the poor result, Krishnamachari Srikkanth blamed CSK’s team selection. Pointing a finger at the New Zealand pacer Matt Henry, the former cricketer said that Henry should immediately be dropped from the playing eleven.

Krishnamachari Srikkanth heavily criticised the management for trusting Matt Henry

Matt Henry, the New Zealand international pacer, has proved very expensive so far. Against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he was one of the frontline bowlers who leaked plenty of runs. On April 5, Henry conceded 36 runs in 3 overs without taking any wickets against RCB. If we talk about his overall performance so far with the Chennai Super Kings, Henry has picked up only two wickets in three games at an average of 65 and an economy of 13.

As the bowler has been proving dismal, the former India batter suggested CSK include Akeal Hosein in their playing combination.

“Their team combination is totally wrong to start with. Anyone and everyone will say Akeal Hosein should play. It’s such an obvious choice. I’ve no idea why they played Matt Henry. Matt Henry was unnecessary. RCB thrashed him. He should never play in the 11 again,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.

“How much more evidence do they need that Henry is getting clobbered? I can’t understand. When it’s clear your bowling is so weak, why not play Akeal Hosein?”, he raised the question.

Sanju Samson has to score: Srikanth

Srikanth did not put all the blame on the bowlers; he accused the batters as well for not fulfilling the extraction. Along with the bowling, team combination, Krishnamachari Srikkanth was displeased with the team’s top order as well. Specially mentioned Sanju Samson, the former cricketer, stated that Samson failed miserably.

“While we all blame the bowlers, Chennai Super Kings’ batters also eventually have to score. Sanju Samson has to score. This is the third match he has failed in miserably. People can keep saying he’s coming back after a great T20 World Cup to defend him. The top order batting and the overall bowling aren’t firing. So you can’t only blame the bowling when your top order batting has been equally pathetic,” he further said in his YouTube video.

The former cricketer pointed out CSK’s poor fielding

“Also, with this fielding, you can do nothing. You can even correct your batting and bowling, but with this fielding, you can do absolutely nothing. CSK can’t contend at all for a playoff spot,” the former Team India captain put the blame on the CSK’s fielding as well.

It is worth remembering that Krishnamachari Srikkanth’s comments on Super Kings came after their clash with RCB, where Shivam Dube dropped a catch of Virat Kohli. RCB registered 250 runs in the first innings and claimed a comfortable win as well.
