MS Dhoni OUT of CSK Playing XI? Kasi Viswanathan drops bomb ahead of IPL 2026

Date:

Will MS Dhoni play all the matches in the IPL 2026? Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan had to confront the question ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, which is scheduled to start from March 28.

Ahead of the IPL 2026, the franchises, including CSK, have begun their preparations. According to the reports, players who had featured in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026 will start training soon. Like the past few seasons, in this year too, there are a lot of speculations surrounding MS Dhoni.

Will MS Dhoni play all the matches of IPL 2026 for CSK?

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that the former captain is all set to play all of the matches for the team. There were some doubts over MS Dhoni’s availability in the league, mainly because of his age. He is now 44 years old. Viswanathan dismissed such doubts in no time.

“He (MS Dhoni) will play all the matches, according to me”, the Chennai Super Kings CEO said.

Who will be the wicketkeeper? CSK CEO replied

Ahead of the IPL 2026, the 5-time IPL winners traded in Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals, a keeper-batter, in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. With Samson on board, who will take the position behind the stumps? Kasi Viswanathan did not make any comments on that, as it will be decided by the team management, not by the administrative staff.

“That I cannot say. That is a cricketing decision which will be taken by the cricketing staff. Not by the administrative staff. So they will decide whether he is going to play as a batsman or as a wicketkeeper-batter, or as an impact player”, he said.

Kasi Viswanatha congratulated the Indian national cricket team for winning the T20 World Cup 2026. India went to play the tournament as the defending champions and concluded the title race as the champion again. In back-to-back T20 World Cups, India claimed the title. After the 2007 success, the team hoisted the trophy in 2024 and 2026, the highest number of T20 WC trophies a team has ever won.

Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube are in tremendous form ahead of IPL 2026

Suryakumar Yadav and his boys were the first in history to successfully defend the title, and that too on their home soil. In the Final match against New Zealand, Sanju Samson scored 89 runs. Another CSK player, Shivam Dube, also played his part well throughout the competition. Both with the ball and the bat, Dube proved crucial for the team. The ongoing forms of Dube and Samson bring relief into the CSK camp, ahead of the IPL 2026 season.

“We are very happy that India has won the World Cup, and that too they’ve won it back-to-back. We are delighted because two of the CSK players, Sanju and Shivam Dube, have performed extremely well. It gives us a lot of confidence in the team doing well for CSK here also”, the CEO of the Chennai Super Kings said.

“Practice is going on well, no problems so far”, he further informed.
