The Mumbai Indians captain had been down with a viral infection for a few days, which kept him away from training and eventually forced him to miss the IPL 2026 league match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, April 4.

There were thoughts that the illness was serious, but a fresh Times of India report suggested that Hardik was only rested for the DC vs MI game as a precautionary measure, and he should be ready to face the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Guwahati on April 7.
