Which team can breach the 300-run mark in an innings in the upcoming IPL 2026? It has been a constant debate among cricket fans since the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2026.
In the showcase tournament of the ICC, which was held in India and Sri Lanka, there were multiple high-scoring matches across venues. So, it is quite possible to say the same in the upcoming Indian Premier League as well.
Ahead of the tournament, former India cricketers Sanjay Bangar and Irfan Pathan named three teams that have the potential firepower to pile up runs in a single innings. In their separate predictions, one name was common— Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Irfan Pathan picked three teams, including the Mumbai Indians as a strong contender to put 300 on the board
During a Star Sports show, the host asked Sanjay Bangar and Irfan Pathan to pick three teams individually that can create history by scoring three hundred runs. But, is it actually possible to register three hundred on board in a 20-overs innings?
Pathan believes that it is possible if the pitch supports the batters very much. For example, he mentioned the second semi-final match of the T20 World Cup 2026, where India scored 253 runs, and England scored 246 runs in their innings, respectively, which was 499 runs in total.

“If the pitch acts like the Wankhede Stadium wicket then it is possible to score 300 runs. I was in absolute shock to see a total of 500 runs in the semi-final. So, if the pitches are prepared like that, then we can see 300 runs in an innings in IPL 2026,” Irfan Pathan opined.
Pathan said that SRH, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Mumbai Indians (MI) have the potential to score a massive amount of runs. He chose MI mostly because of the Wankhede Stadium.
Sanjay Bangar surprisingly named the Kolkata Knight Riders in the contention
On the other hand, Sanjay Bangar believes that breaking the 300-run mark is still not possible despite multiple high-scoring matches in the past. He picked up SRH, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as the contenders to score 300 runs.
KKR was a surprising pick. Bangar explained that KKR might be lacking in the bowling department, but they have tremendous firepower in their batting department through overseas recruitments.
KKR favourites to score 300 IPL
“It will be interesting to see which 4 they chose as their overseas players. We see Finn Allen, who is a tremendous six-hitter. Tim Seifert, Rovman Powell, and Cameron Green are too capable of smashing the ball around the park.

Sunil Narine is in the squad. They have a lack of quality in the bowling, but their batting looks tremendously powerful,” Sanjay Bangar explained why he chose KKR as a contender.
