Arijit Singh’s Early Career

Arijit Singh did not directly enter Bollywood but spent a good time on every step of the ladder of his career. He was trained to be a singer by his guru, Rajendra Prasad Hazari. He first got fame from the TV show Fame Gurukul (2005) when he was just 18 years old. From the show, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali picked him to sing Yoon Shanami for the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Saawariya. His version was never released, while the one sung by Parthiv Gohil was released.

In 2006, he moved to Mumbai and set up a personal recording studio to work as a music programmer and producer for advertisements, radio stations, and television channels. At that studio, he worked for composers like Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Vishal–Shekhar, Mithoon, Monty Sharma, and Pritam.

He made his Bollywood playback singing debut with Phir Mohabbat from Murder 2 in 2011, which became a chartbuster.
